CELTIC FROST Frontman On BOHREN & DER CLUB OF GORE
May 8, 2005CELTIC FROST frontman Tom Gabriel Fischer has posted the following message on his official blog:
"We cut short a CELTIC FROST vocal recording session last night to go and see BOHREN & DER CLUB OF GORE play a concert in Zurich. We are all blown away by their music and concept, and BOHREN's Morten Gass was kind enough to invite us to the show. BOHREN and CELTIC FROST have been in contact ever since the release of BOHREN's stunning 'Black Earth' album and the two bands have long held quite some esteem for one another. And last night we managed to forge a special friendship. BOHREN's show was amazing, even though they themselves seemed to think otherwise.
"I believe BOHREN & DER CLUB OF GORE must be one of the most unusual, intrepid and extreme groups around at the moment. The fact is that they redefine even the common perception of 'extreme.' They are not heavy, noisy, fast nor frenzied. I don't think there is a group that plays any slower or darker than BOHREN. They are very loud onstage, but drastically quiet in their approach, and although their music is not heavy rock per se, there are elements in their songs that show that there exists an unshrouded and radically dark metal lineage. It is like jazz meets BLACK SABBATH, slowed down almost to a standstill, it often sounds like THE DOORS in radical slow motion. And of course the songs that mesmerized me most were those from 'Black Earth', although the entire performance was incredible and so is the music from the new 'Geisterfaust' album."
